A two-time Academy Award-winning film (1941, Best Original Story, Best Screenplay) based on the play Heaven Can Wait, Here Comes Mr. Jordan is a delightfully romantic comedy with exceptional performances and snappy dialogue. Joe Pendleton (Robert Montgomery) is a boxer headed for a championship fight until he is killed in a plane crash. Unfortunately for Joe, he was not supposed to die in the crash, but instead was brought up to heaven too soon by an overeager angel (Edward Everett Horton). It is up to the angel's boss, Jordan (Claude Rains), to find Joe a new body and give him another chance to fight for the title. In the process of finding his new home, Joe finds an idealistic young woman (Evelyn Keyes) to whom he is immediately smitten, and she gives him a reason to live beyond prize fighting.
